7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

NEXT Workshop topic:

Vocabulary from A to Z

Developing your child’s vocabulary is one of the easiest ways to ensure your preschooler becomes a successful reader and writer. Come and create a personalized scrapbook of words.

This will be a make-it-yourself-then-take-home-and-use-it-right-away workshop. We will provide all the materials needed for the book!

We will discuss the importance of:

  • vocabulary development as outlined in the California State Board of Education Content Standards
  • engaging your child’s vocabulary development through pictures, textures, smells and other sensorial activities
  • your child’s ability to make distinctions between the five senses, colors, and moods/feelings
  • connecting higher level vocabulary words to words they already know and use
  • making language an important part of daily life for your preschooler

We will also provide you with an assortment of strategies and recommended resources to develop higher level vocabulary.

Cost:  FREE

Where:  Lakeview Senior Center (Meeting Room) located at 20 Lake Road, Irvine, CA 92604 (see map below)
